Viva la Vida

January 26, 2009 By FibroHaven 2 Comments

Do you ever feel that you are on the verge of something real, something good? Do you ever feel that despite all you are suffering with, or maybe because of it, that you are on the precipice of something deeper than you could have imagined, and that all you have gone through has brought you to this moment, to this time, and that everything is exactly how it is supposed to be? I feel that way right now.   It started with my blog, which forced me to open up about the fact that I have Fibromyalgia, and about how very hard it is to manage my life sometimes. I feel like I have finally come clean, … [Read more...]

Fibromyalgia and Qigong

January 23, 2009 By FibroHaven 6 Comments

Several weeks ago I wrote about research results which claimed that Qigong can decrease pain levels and improve the quality of life in patients with Fibromyalgia and chronic pain. It took me this long to finally take a class, and after just one session I am convinced Qigong is a compatible and beneficial exercise for me.   The Wellness Center I recently joined offers Qigong (pronounced chee-gong) in addition to many other mind and body disciplines. Fay McGrew is the instructor and this is how she describes Qigong:   The practice of Qigong is used for stress reduction, to enhance the body's … [Read more...]

Fibromyalgia Presents a Real and Significant Market Opportunity

January 21, 2009 By FibroHaven 3 Comments

Pardon me while I step upon my soapbox again. Excuse me while I clear my throat and take a sip of water. Give me just one moment to arrange my notes and organize my thoughts. Now please, stand back if you do not want to feel any of the vile comments I am about to spew forth. Here goes. I HATE DRUG COMPANIES! I hate that their sole purpose is to profit off the needs and health concerns of the public. I hate that they view every illness as an opportunity to line their pockets. I hate that they perpetuate a culture of sickness by treating symptoms and not caring to find a cure. Why would they … [Read more...]

Things I Love #2: Venting

November 19, 2008 By FibroHaven 2 Comments

Boy did that feel great!  Yesterday I was a balled-up angry mess, but then I typed the word “pissed” 500 times and I felt much better!   As I have said before, pain makes me angry.  How could it not?  Pain leads to all things bad in my world, so sometimes I have to just spew forth like an angry volcano and relieve some of the pressure and tension that has built up.  Right now I can hear Rob cheering that I took it out on “Dr. Charlatan” and not on him.   So since I felt so great afterwards (like I could have wrestled a buffalo and won), I decided to google the health benefits of writing and … [Read more...]
