How My Fibromyalgia Got Superpowers!

February 26, 2009 By FibroHaven 21 Comments

The continuation of The Many Triggers of Fibromyalgia. "Life was good. But then my Fibromyalgia got superpowers! Dunt, dunt, duhn!!!  To be continued…"       Can Fibromyalgia have superpowers, or does it only feel that way? I am not sure, but on the morning of September 27, 2006, my Fibromyalgia intensified to a level I did not think was possible.   I was driving to one of my sales accounts that was nearly two hours away. It was one of my least favorite accounts because of the distance, and because they were very high maintenance but very low volume. So I was already in a mood when the … [Read more...]

A Look Into My Holistic Journey

February 24, 2009 By FibroHaven 14 Comments

Last week was a busy week. I had a lot of events and appointments related to my Fibromyalgia support group and my own personal Fibromyalgia health plan. It was a great week full a little epiphanies and I am excited to share them with you. On Wednesday my support group had our laughter meditation (referred to as laughter yoga in my previous post) session with Sarito Sun, Laughter Healer and Coach, Hypnotherapist and Meditation Instructor. Now I have to admit I was a little skeptical about the evening. I watched the videos on laughter yoga and I wondered if I would be too self-conscious to … [Read more...]

Improve Your Fibromyalgia With Laughter Yoga

February 17, 2009 By FibroHaven 2 Comments

There are approximately 6000 clubs around the world that practice laughter yoga as a way to improve mood, health and overall wellbeing. Here is a description of laughter yoga from the official Laughter Yoga International website:   Laughter Yoga is a revolutionary idea – simple and profound.  An exercise routine, it is fast sweeping the world and is a complete wellbeing workout. It is the brainchild of Dr. Madan Kataria, an Indian physician from Mumbai who started the first laughter club in a park on 13th March 1995, with just 5 people. Today, it has become a worldwide phenomenon with more … [Read more...]

Letter to the AP, from the President of the National Fibromyalgia Association

February 13, 2009 By FibroHaven 3 Comments

Yesterday Lynne Matallana, President of the National Fibromyalgia Association, left a comment on my blog. It was in response to the Associated Press article last week; AP IMPACT: Drugmakers' push boosts 'murky' ailment. This article has caused quite a stir in the Fibromyalgia community. In her comment Lynne took the time to address what was said and to counter any enforcement the article gives to the many misconceptions about Fibromyalgia. I felt her letter was too important to sit unnoticed among the comments on my blog, so I am copying it into a new post. I hope you will all take the time to … [Read more...]

Fibromyalgia, From a Holistic Chiropractor's Prospective

February 9, 2009 By FibroHaven 9 Comments

Last month my Fibromyalgia support group was fortunate to have Dr. David Shores, DC give a presentation. He discussed with us what he believes to be the major contributing factors for Fibromyalgia and chronic pain, and shared with us several successes he has had with his approach to treating Fibromyalgia & chronic pain.
