In Honor of Every Mom Living with Chronic Illness

May 10, 2009 By FibroHaven 4 Comments

I often wonder how you do it. How do you take care of your health and wellbeing while fulfilling the numerous selfless duties of motherhood? And I think I know the answer. After the dinner is cooked and the homework is done and the teeth are brushed and everyone is tucked safely in bed, maybe then, for a moment, you have a chance to consider yourself. Sometimes a flare-up may force you to consider yourself sooner than you normally would have, but even then you struggle with putting yourself first. Mom's by nature are selfless and your children are blessed because of it.    I honor and … [Read more...]

I’d Like You to Meet Finley

April 24, 2009 By FibroHaven 5 Comments

Finley is our silly and funny dog - part Australian Shepherd, part Great Dane. He is just the right combination of intellectual and goofball. We took him with us on our trip to Bodega Bay & wine country. It was his first road trip and he was awesome in the car. It was an 8-9 hour drive from North San Diego County to Bodega Bay and he rode like a champ. Never once asked "Are we there yet?" or whine or paced with impatience like his big sis Casey would have. My brother-in-law Chris is an amazing photographer and he took this shot of Finley on our trip. Is he not the most handsome … [Read more...]

I am going to be taking a little break from my blog for the next week, but please, do not feel the need to stand by your computer and wait. Taking a trip to wine country to celebrate my hubby's 40th birthday. I am really looking forward to the rest and relaxation, with a few wine and cheese chasers! Hope to come back renewed and refreshed with something interesting to write about. Here are a … [Read more...]

Celebrating Life: Lessons Learned From My Beautiful Lab Casey

March 25, 2009 By FibroHaven 22 Comments

I have been off the grid for a few days. Laying low and trying to put my pieces back together after having to say goodbye to my constant companion of the last 14 years, my beautiful and sweet lab Casey. This is not going to be a post about the tears I have shed though, this is a celebration of her life. Who better than a dog to teach us how to live in the moment, love those who love you, and enjoy every minute of what it means to be alive? The first lesson I learned from Casey was resiliency and a strong passion to live life. I rescued Casey when she was just a few months old, and within a … [Read more...]
