Online Social Networking for Fibromyalgia Support and Information

May 20, 2009 By FibroHaven 7 Comments

On a recent post, Conversation on Isolation, I promised I would put together a list of online resources for Fibromyalgia  and chronic illness support and information. Below you will find many - but not nearly all - links to social networking online resources. Because I am not an active participant of each site listed I am only making comments on the sites I have firsthand knowledge of. Please feel free to add to this list in the comments, or leave your thoughts, feelings, experiences on any of the listed sites. Due to the amount of information available, I am breaking this information up into … [Read more...]

Review: Treating Fibromyalgia Naturally — So You Can Shine Again

May 16, 2009 By FibroHaven 4 Comments

I subscribe to a newsletter from womentowomen.com. They are pioneers in the combination of alternative and conventional medicine in women’s health, and focus on underlying causes rather than simply upon the treatment of symptoms. They do have products and a health care program they are trying to sell, but even if you are not interested in becoming a client/patient, the information on the women to women site is a valuable resource.   In their most recently newsletter, the main article was a feature on Fibromyalgia: Treating Fibromyalgia Naturally — So You Can Shine Again.  I found this to be … [Read more...]

Conversation on Isolation

May 15, 2009 By FibroHaven 4 Comments

I made the statement in one of my recent posts that "Fibromyalgia and chronic illness can be very isolating if you let it." I wrote it in reference to a conversation I was having with members of my support group, trying to come up with ideas to encourage inactive members to attend. I wasn't expecting it to hit a nerve with anyone, but it did, and I think it led to a very interesting communication between us. I want to share it with you to continue the conversation and also to applaud the commenter, Kathy, for speaking out and holding me accountable for my word choice.   Kathy Okay, I’m … [Read more...]

Leave a Comment, You May Make a New Friend

March 30, 2009 By FibroHaven 22 Comments

When I began my blog last October it was most definitely a selfish endeavor. I wanted (and needed) a space of my own to vent, process, absorb and share what my life with Fibromyalgia is all about. Since the birth of my blog, I have had a personal awakening and now understand that I am so much more than what Fibromyalgia has taken away from me. Writing about my experiences has given me back the control that I let FM take away from me so many years ago. I have become more accepting of how my life has changed and more hopeful for what my future holds. The best part of my blog though has been … [Read more...]

Viva la Vida

January 26, 2009 By FibroHaven 2 Comments

Do you ever feel that you are on the verge of something real, something good? Do you ever feel that despite all you are suffering with, or maybe because of it, that you are on the precipice of something deeper than you could have imagined, and that all you have gone through has brought you to this moment, to this time, and that everything is exactly how it is supposed to be? I feel that way right now.   It started with my blog, which forced me to open up about the fact that I have Fibromyalgia, and about how very hard it is to manage my life sometimes. I feel like I have finally come clean, … [Read more...]
