15 Counterproductive, Needless, and Delaying Things I Did Today

May 7, 2009 By FibroHaven 9 Comments

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Procrastination is a behavior which is characterized by deferment of actions or tasks to a later time. Psychologists often cite procrastination as a mechanism for coping with the anxiety associated with starting or completing any task or decision. Psychology researchers also have three criteria they use to categorize procrastination. For a behavior to be classified as procrastination, it must be counterproductive, needless, and delaying.

Procrastination Tales Of Mere Existence

Counterproductive, needless and delaying ways I spent my time today – instead of getting my “stuff done.”

1. Spent two hours on Twitter reading any semi-interesting article someone tweeted about. Did you know it is National Prayer Day?

2. Posted two such articles on my facebook page. Worlds oldest dog turns 21 today. He is a senior wiener!

3. Checked e-mail.

4. Decided my hair was bugging me so went into the bathroom to put it in a ponytail. How did my bathroom sink get so unorganized?

5. Straighten bathroom.

6. Checked e-mail. Oooo good deal on T.V.’s at Costco.

7. Kicked the ball around the house a bit with Finley. Noticed he sheds a lot when playing ball.

8. Vacuumed.

9. Really! No one has e-mailed me in the last 15 minutes?

10. Changed the tags for Fibromyalgia Haven blog description on facebook. No longer a blog about “Fibromyalgia,” “inspiration,” and “writing.” Now a blog about “Fibromyalgia,” “chronic illness,” and “personal essay.” That’s better!

11. Took my hair out of ponytail.

12. Checked e-mail.

13. Pondered my new tags. Not sure if all really represent my blog. Maybe use tags like “musings,” or “thought provoking” or “needs therapy.”

14. Googled the word “procrastination.” Found the awesomely funny video above. Discovered there are 23 videos on You Tube by the same person….

15. Watched videos on You Tube.

    Hi Dannette:

Love your name, my daughters name is Deny. Anyway I look forward to getting to know you, even if we on opposites coast.

Procrastination means to be a sloth!

I look forward to getting to know even if we are on opposite coast. Tell me how far are you from these fires in CA? The three reasons why I never had the desire to move to CA is due to earth quakes, fires and the cost of living isn’t any cheaper than the east coast if I am going to move to another state it would be not only warmer weather but the cost of living would be lower.

Fire scares me, I am a nurse and I have seen burn victims in the ER and it isn’t pretty and trust me you never want to go through the hell a burn victim goes through.

Stay safe, healthy and don’t try any gimmicks that are offer just stick to the healthy foods, eat lots of veggies and fruit.
I just posted a gluten free salad dressing that is really good so, go copy it off my latest post.

Next I plan on putting together a shopping list of things you should have in your pantry at all times.

My post will involve learing how to cook gluten free and how to take recipes we already have and substitute ingredients.

Ms. Procrastination do you have a bread maker? You really should get one. Sunbeam sells a reasonably inexpensive one and your gonna need it for life. Also you can make gluten free jam in a bread maker, did you know that?

Last Christmas I made bread and Jam for a few friends and family and they loved it. None of them had a clue that it was gluten free.

Also on my site is a website where you can purchase gluten free food for less. By in bulk and you won’t have to shop often.

    Have a great weekend

LOL So funny! Technically, the things that they guy did in the video were not needless or counterproductive (just getting in the way of other ‘stuff’). I hope this isn’t you beating yourself up for procrastinating, cuz trust me that just makes it even harder to overcome!

Listen: my mom gave me a necklace she wanted me to fix 3 weeks ago. She’s been bugging me about it. I knew it would take less than five minutes, but I only got it done TODAY. And that’s only because it’s Mother’s Day in two days!

Oh *hugs*, I know how it is!

Dannette, that is so funny and gosh, I sure can RELATE! That is me but I am productive most the time. That’s so funny someone mentioned a bread maker, we were just talking bout that when we saw each other last. Hope all is well. I am confined to my lovely hotel like room, as I am wiped out with this thyroid stuff. Hope to see you soon. I think I am taking Cam to the Yoga saturday at Chopra. The girls liked him there. I stopped by today to get some tea and vitamins. Still need more though. 🙂 I LOVE the book you got me. I am almost done but there is so much to digest!I Thank You!
