Magnesium Malate and Fibromyalgia

October 24, 2008 By FibroHaven 71 Comments

In a continuing effort to live well with Fibromyalgia I am going to be researching and trying new and different things to help maintain my health.  I will report on my research and my own personal experiences, but I am not a doctor and therefore will not be telling anyone to try what I do.  If you think you may benefit from my experiences, please check with your doctor to see if it is right for you.   I have read repeatedly that Magnesium Malate may significantly reduce pain in people with Fibromyalgia by increasing muscle efficiency.  But for me to try something new, it is not enough to read … [Read more...]

Sitting Quietly

October 23, 2008 By FibroHaven 2 Comments

Do you know what is lost in today’s high-tech world of cell phones and electronic gadgets? - - - Sitting alone, quietly. I seldom see it happening anymore. Since developing Fibromyalgia I have worked as a freelancer in order to better manage my health and flare-ups.  Freelancing comes with a lot of freedom, but it can also be isolating.  To help combat this I go out and observe people often. It is important to my writing, and it is important to my mental wellbeing. If I find myself stuck on a topic I am writing about, or just completely void of inspiration, I leave the house. I have several … [Read more...]

And you can post from ANYWHERE!

October 22, 2008 By FibroHaven 4 Comments

So that was the plan.  Go to Hawaii for Kim's wedding and take the laptop so I could keep up with my intentions of posting to my blog daily.  Instead, somewhere over the Pacific, it decided it was not interested in participating and took a nap - forever! You know what they say about good intentions and best laid plans... Of course there were a few options to pay for online access - coffee shops, hotel lobby, etc.  But that would have meant that instead of snorkeling with sea turtles and dolphins (and a puffer fish that I think might actually have been in love with me); instead of a … [Read more...]

Weddings Make Me Nostalgic

October 15, 2008 By FibroHaven 2 Comments

I am flying to Hawaii tomorrow to attend the wedding of one of my best friends from high school.  Kim & I have been friends for nearly 25 years, and her approaching wedding has made me very reflective and nostalgic about our friendship and our youth.  It has also made me realize how much I have changed and how much Fibromyalgia has forced me to change.   Kim and I met in high school.  We had an English class together.  I was a serious and studious student, sitting in the front row, taking notes, and hanging on to Mr. Gordon’s every word (partly because I secretly wanted to marry him).  Kim … [Read more...]

4 Simple Daily Habits to Help Manage Your Fibromyalgia

October 14, 2008 By FibroHaven 5 Comments

For the estimated 10 million Americans living with fibromyalgia, there is nothing “simple” about it. The daily battle with widespread pain, fatigue, and mental fog can be debilitating. Trying to be a productive person under these conditions is a challenge. Fibromyalgia sufferers struggle every day coping with this “new” version of their lives. Gone is the independent, productive person you once were. In place is someone left wondering, “How am I going to contribute today?” And it is not simply how am I going to contribute to my job, to my home, and to my family, but how am I going to … [Read more...]
