Art is open to personal interpretation Chloe, but I disagree with you that it is erotic.

I have read several references on this and contrary to your erotic interpretation, for Frida it was much more of a cruel violation, representing the metal rod that pierced her vagina during the bus crash.

I need to locate the exact quote but Frida said something to the effect that the metal rod took her virginity. Clearly it is not erotic to lose your virginity in such a violent manner. And yet she shields us from seeing this and protects herself from our gazes with the white flowing sheet. She remains in control despite the chaos.

Every time I look at and think about this painting I find something new to admire about the Frida!

it's so erotic

Fascinating to think that Frida may have had fibro. It makes a lot of sense!
